Mel has been with First Night since it was founded. Prior to that she worked with 'Connections' a smaller close harmony group alongside Karen, Mark and Simon.
Previous roles include: Yum Yum (Hot Mikado), Mabel (Mack and Mabel), Bebe (A Chorus Line), Darcy (Brenda Bly Teen Detective), Cinderella (Into The Woods), Young Sally (Follies), Liza (Peter Pan), Kate (Broadway Pirates), and Sister Mary Leo (Nunsense).
Melanie graduated from the Brighton Institute of Modern Music where she studied vocals in various styles including rock, pop and rap! She sings with various rock and soul bands, and has sung at venues including Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club and London Astoria where she sang backing for heavy metal band Pitchshifter - a bit of a change from musicals! Melanie has choreographed various productions including: 42nd Street, Anything Goes, Kiss of The Spiderwoman and Crazy For You.
Melanie's latest projects are The Doo Wop Dolls an all girl acapella three piece, whose music is in celebration of the girl groups, and Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show, a 12 piece choir singing songs for the soul.
Melanie enjoys working with First Night and often feels it would be interesting to have a fly on the wall documentary made about First Night as the fun you see us having onstage is equalled by the fun we have backstage!
